High Levels of Internationalism with 38,421 Expert Visitors from 104 Countries
Robot technology and handling systems, man-machine collaboration and safety, assembly solutions for production with flexible lot quantities and higher performance density thanks to integrated functionality – with precisely 970 exhibitors from 26 countries (890 at Motek and 80 at Bondexpo), the Motek international trade fair for automation in production and assembly and the Bondexpo international trade fair for bonding technology once again succeeded in setting the scene as the leading process sequence platform for industrial automation.
Already when the event first opened on Monday the 9th of October, 2017, it became apparent that the issue of digitalisation in production ran through all exhibition segments as a common thread, as expressed by Dr. Till Reuter, director of the board of Kuka AG, during his statement on the occasion of the opening press conference. The interesting speeches held by Katrin Schütz, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry for Economics, Labour and Housing Construction in Baden-Württemberg, Uwe Weiss, managing director of Weiss GmbH, und Patrick Vandenrhijn, managing director of bdtronic GmbH, addressed this issue as well.
Digitalisation, as well as the associated challenges for companies of all sizes, are leading to an even more highly automated world of production and organisation, which was treated comprehensively and diversely at the accompanying supplementary programme offered by the forum. 400 visitors attended the expert forum on “Safety + Automation” held by collaboration partner PILZ, 600 visitors attended Schall’s exhibitor forum and, last but not least, 200 visitors attended the VDI forum – with 1200 visitors, the Motek/Bondexpo forum programme remained on course for success and its audience from near and far was able to profit from new solutions and empirical reports.
The good start on Monday was followed by full-house days on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as a positive conclusion on Thursday. Internationalism increased once again thanks to the fact that 38,421 expert visitors from 104 countries made their way to Stuttgart this year. There were no bottlenecks despite the visitor onslaught, which above all can be traced back to the new segment focus with individual process sequence emphases in their own separate halls, which proved its worth straightaway. The reintegration of the Bondexpo, which goes hand in hand with this concept, was very well accepted and was reflected in high levels of regard on the part of the participating exhibitors.
Together, the Motek international trade fair for automation in production and assembly and the Bondexpo international trade fair for bonding technology filled 683,000 square feet of overall exhibition floor space and occupied nearly all available space at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre. Now that expansion and remodelling is nearly complete (newly constructed hall 10, second main entrance West, infrastructure improvements), an optimised trade fair facility will be available as of 2018 and the two complementary trade fairs, Motek and Bondexpo, will be able to continue their development unhindered.
